Our basement window well has been a big source of excitement these days! Last week we had two bunnies in the wells one once occasion and one bunny on another. Two days ago when David sat down at his desk and glanced out the window he saw this:
He climbed through a tiny hole in the screen and was in between the glass and the screen. Let's just say I was very thankful that the window was closed when he climbed through that hole! At first we thought it was a mole because he was so plump and furry. Then after a quick internet search we determined that he is a vole or better known as a field mouse. Mouse traps were added to my Wa*Mart shopping list. In the meantime, David had to work and this little fur ball mouse was climbing up and down the screen and running around like it was on speed.
Then when I got home with the trap, David put the peanut butter bait on it, taped it to a tomato stake and lowered it down the well and this is what happened . . . . he went back to the trap 4 times and snacked on peanut butter:
It wasn't until he got greedy and visited the trap a 5th time that the trap did what it was supposed to do! Now every single time David or I go down to the basement we check the window wells for wild visitors:)

Yikes, we have so many field mice that make it into our garage. We have been battling all summer and I think we are finally prevailing.
